With the widespread use of smartphone cameras, approximately 2.1 trillion photos are captured annually worldwide. However, despite this exponential growth, most images are left unattended or forgotten without specific context, leading to a decline in their perceived significance. Simultaneously, contemporary society is facing a structural rise in "social indifference," characterized by a decrease in public discourse and communal empathy. This study reinterprets personal photographs not merely as static records but as "mediums for understanding and empathizing with the world". Using the framework of "reciprocal altruism" from evolutionary biology, it argues that understanding others is a fundamental survival strategy. Furthermore, by building on Henri Cartier-Bresson’s "The Decisive Moment," the research seeks the intersection of personal memories and social events. By assigning social context to personal records, this study proposes a design solution to expand individual perception into a broader space of social empathy.
